Day 1 : Day in transit

Day 2 :
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Arrive at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Proceed through immigration to the baggage claim area and retrieve your luggage. After completing customs, AHI FlexAir passengers traveling on flights that qualify for the group arrival transfer and Cruise Program passengers who have purchased seats on the group transfer should exit the baggage claim area and proceed to the designated meeting spot, where an AHI Travel representative will meet them. The meeting location will be provided with your final documents.

Transfer to the MS Amadeus Silver. Please note, if you arrive before check-in time, your cabin may not be immediately available.

Discovery: Canals of Amsterdam.
Board a canal cruiser for a unique tour of Amsterdam, capital of the Netherlands and the center of the country’s culture and commerce. Named after the city’s origin as a dam in the river Amstel, today Amsterdam is known the world over for its more than 60 miles of tree-lined canals and waterways that make this romantic city truly unforgettable. The three main canals were dug during the Golden Age of the 17th century, and that central area is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Admire some of the city’s 1,500 bridges, dozens of islands, charming Dutch homes and the architectural gems of the bustling city harbor during a guided cruise with a local expert.

Day 3 :
Amsterdam

• Waterland Bicycle Ride.
Take a guided bike tour of scenic Waterland, an iconic wetland north of Amsterdam that is composed of nine villages and boasts stunning views as well as hundreds of official monuments. Day 4 :
Cologne, Germany
Enjoy the scenery this morning along the Rhine as you continue to Cologne.

Discovery: Frühschoppen.
An age-old German tradition awaits you on the sun deck this morning. Sip a beer and enjoy a snack of pretzels and sausages, which you can try with a variety of mustards.

Arrive in Cologne this afternoon.

Discovery: Cologne’s Magnificent Cathedral.
Tour the medieval quarter, and visit Kölner Dom, the famous 12th-century cathedral that also is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The church was badly damaged by bomb blasts during World War II, but it was one of the few structures in Cologne that survived.

Day 5 :
Koblenz
Discovery: Koblenz.
Enjoy a walk through Koblenz this morning. More than 2,000 years ago, the Romans established a settlement at the confluence of the Mosel and Rhine rivers. Today, the beautiful town of Koblenz occupies that same strategic location. See the Town Hall; the medieval Liebfrauenkirche, the Church of Our Lady; the Alte Burg, the Old Castle; the Altes Kaufhaus, the Old Merchants’ Hall; and the Deutsches Eck, the German Corner, where the Rhine and Mosel rivers meet.

Continue with a full day of cruising through one of the most gorgeous areas of Germany. Make your way through the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. See the famous Loreley Rock and other gorgeous views of castles and vineyards along the steep hills.

Day 6 :
Miltenberg
Enjoy a morning at leisure on the Main River. Relax on deck, and enjoy the scenery.

Discovery: Miltenberg.
Enjoy a walking tour of this medieval city, which is home to a 13th-century castle that presides over the town. See local shops and half-timbered houses along its main street, as well as a 16th-century fountain. Visit St. Kilian Kellerei, a wine shop that sits over a 15th-century vaulted ice cellar. Today, ice is no longer stored there, but it is a charming spot to enjoy a tasting of Franconian brandies.

Later, as the ship sails toward Würzburg, enjoy breathtaking views of the rolling hills, dense forests and picture-perfect villages that adorn the banks of the Main River.

Würzburg
Discovery: Würzburg.
Würzburg is a beautiful baroque city set along the Main River. Visit the Residenz, an elegant, 18th-century palace once home to the prince-bishops of Würzburg that now is a UNESCO World Heritage site. During a walking tour of the historic city center, see St. Kilian’s Cathedral, the Old Town Hall and the city’s bustling marketplace.

Return to the ship for lunch.

Bamberg

During the years leading up to World War II and through the war, Nuremberg was connected to the Nazi party. The city often played host to Nazi demonstrations, organized as a display of power, at the massive Documentation Centre Nazi Party Rally Grounds. Explore the center, home to the Fascination and Terror exhibit that examines the National Socialist Party’s reign, and see the courthouse where the World War II trials were held.
• Rural Life.

This morning, wake up on the Danube River. Enjoy a morning of beautiful scenery and relaxing on deck as you make your way to Regensburg.

• The Fast Lane.

Passau
Discovery: Picturesque Passau.
Nestled at the confluence of the Danube, Ilz and Inn rivers, Passau has been called “one of the most beautifully situated towns in the world.” See the many highlights of this delightful village, including the medieval Veste Oberhaus, Rathaus, Niedernburg Abbey and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Later, see Holy Cross Church. Visit St. Stephen’s Basilica, which is the home of the world’s largest cathedral organ.

This afternoon, the ship sails for Melk, Austria.

Melk, Austria/Dürnstein
Wake up this morning in Melk.

Discovery: Melk Abbey.
Visit Melk’s Benedictine abbey, an architectural jewel with impressive interiors that also is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The baroque building dates from 1736, and an amazing view of the mighty Danube awaits at the abbey’s terrace.

This afternoon, enjoy daytime sailing through the picturesque Wachau Valley, singled out by the UNESCO World Heritage Center for the structured development of architecture, city planning and agriculture here since prehistoric times. Admire the historic towns, villages, monasteries and castles along the way.

This afternoon, arrive in Dürnstein.

• Art and Wine.
Journey north of Vienna to nearby Klosterneuburg. Overlooking the Danube is its 12th-century monastery, home to the gilded copper Verdun Altar and a wine estate, the oldest in Austria. Explore Klosterneuburg Monastery’s impressive art collection, then visit its winding wine cellar as you learn about the craft of winemaking, then enjoy a tasting.
• Schönbrunn Palace.
Visit beautiful Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This opulent royal residence was the summer home of the Habsburgs from the 18th century through the early 20th century. See the lavish State Apartments, Hall of Mirrors and manicured gardens. Marvel at the baroque architecture of the residence as well as the statues in the gardens. This magnificent estate, built at the height of the Habsburg dynasty, sits on a site of a modest hunting lodge and summer home that was destroyed by Ottoman forces in 1683. Bratislava, Slovakia
The ship departs Vienna this morning and cruises to Bratislava, Slovakia.

Learn about the Velvet Revolution, a pivotal event that led to the end of communism in Czechoslovakia and preceded the country’s split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and the development of Slovakia as an independed nation.

Once the royal residence, the castle now serves as the venue for the Slovak Parliament. Afterward, tour Old Town, filled with charm and impressive architecture, then experience the region’s rich brewing tradition with a visit to a local pub for a tasting of Slovak beers.

Day 15 :
Budapest, Hungary
The ship arrives in Budapest this morning.

This capital was once two cities — Buda and Pest — on opposite sides of the Danube, which flows through the center of the visually spectacular and united city. See Heroes’ Square, the Opera House and the Gothic-style Parliament Building. Enjoy stunning panoramic views from Fisherman’s Bastion.
• Living Local.
Take a guided tour of Budapest’s bustling Great Market Hall, built in the 19th century. Rain or shine, peruse the food and craft stalls that span three floors of this historic structure. Continue to a local coffee house to learn how pastry chefs craft the flakiest, tastiest strudels. Enjoy a piece of strudel with coffee or tea and a sampling of palinka, an Eastern European schnapps.
• Jewish Quarter.
Explore Budapest’s Jewish Quarter. Pass by the 19th-century Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe, and the Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Park, where the Emanuel Tree Holocaust memorial stands, en route to the Holocaust Memorial Center, which occupies the renovated Pava Street Synagogue. Take a tour of this poignant memorial before continuing to the Glass House, a safe haven for thousands of Jews during World War II. Learn the story of Swiss Vice Consul Carl Lutz and how he and other Swiss and Swedish diplomats sheltered thousands of Jews and arranged for their travel out of Hungary. The final stop is Shoes on the Danube, a moving tribute to the Jews who were shot on the banks of the Danube by the local militia in the mid-1940s. Forced to remove their shoes as they lined up for their execution, these men, women and children were thrown or tossed into the Danube after being shot. This memorial, installed in 2005, is a tribute to the victims and a reminder of this brutal crime.

Tonight, the ship sails through Budapest, and you’ll be treated to the amazing sight of the city at night. See the Parliament building and the Buda Castle, which are even more spectacular when they are illuminated. Cruise under the Chain Bridge and see the reflections of the lights sparkle like jewels.
