Linda was on the NTHP National Main Street program’s management team working with over 200 communities. As the director for Exchange Programs for the Countryside Institute she provided oversight for communities in 3 counties to implement sustainable environmental and economic programs. Her time as the Board Chair and Executive Director of Historic Congressional Cemetery saw the property go from being listed on the NT’s 11 Most Endangered to being listed as a National Landmark with a $4M endowment. Most recently she served as the CEO for Cultural Tourism for Washington, DC promoting the embassies, monuments, arts and neighborhoods as an integral part of the city’s economic development plan. Her background in historic preservation, cultural tourism and community engagement will help each traveler better understand the flavor and significance of our stops along the way.

Arrive in Barcelona. Transfer to embark the Wind Spirit. Settle in and enjoy tonight’s Welcome Dinner on board.

Port Vendres/Carcassonne
Drive to Carcassonne, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe. Visit La Porte Narbonnaise, the Castle of the Counts and the Basilica St. Nazaire. Climb the ramparts and spy the watchtowers (the fortress has 52!). There’s even a moat, nowadays filled with a lovely garden. Enjoy lunch on your own at one of the charming cafes within the walled city, and spend time visiting the galleries and shops. Tonight, join your fellow passengers for a Captain’s Welcome Reception and dinner on board.

Marseille/ Aix-en-Provence
Spend a leisurely day in Aix‑en‑Provence, birthplace of Paul Cezanne and known as Stroll one of the most beautiful streets in France, the elegant Cours Mirabeau Avenue, lined with trees and 17th and 18th‑century mansions. Meander along winding alleys in the historic town center. Soak in lovely architecture, parks, gardens—and of course, fountains—everywhere in this delightful city. Enjoy free time browsing the Provençal Flower Market. Lunch together at a charming local restaurant.

Nice/Monaco
From Mont Boron, enjoy an unbeatable scenic view of the Old Port of Nice, the village of Villefranche-sur-Mer, the Cap-Ferrat peninsula and the famously blue water the Cote d’Azur is named for. Continue on a panoramic tour of some of Nice’s most iconic highlights. Savor a delicious lunch on board as the ship sails to Monaco. With an expert local guide, walk through the old town’s charming, narrow streets, and admire the historic buildings and beautiful architecture. Tour the Prince’s Palace, built as an Italian fortress in A.D. 1191. Marvel at the sumptuous décor in the State Apartments, home to Monaco’s royals. Tonight enjoy a relaxing evening and dinner on board, or stay in town for dinner and sightseeing on your own! Shuttles will run from the ship to Monte Carlo throughout the evening.

Genoa/Portofino
During a walking tour through Genoa’s old town, immerse yourself in the city’s medieval core with its range of architectural styles, shops, restaurants and cafes. Marvel at the incredible Palazzi dei Rolli. Visit Romanengo, the oldest confectioner in town—dating to 1780—and savor beloved local sweets. This evening go ashore in Portofino and spend free time exploring. From every vantage point the views are unforgettable!

Porto Venere/ Cinque Terre
Depart Porto Venere by private boat for an excursion to the UNESCO-inscribed Cinque Terre, a collection of five picturesque villages clinging to the cliffs over the Mediterranean Sea and connected by small footpaths. Visit the villages of Vernazza and Monterosso and wrap up with a walking tour of Porto Venere.

Portoferraio/Elba
Stroll through the old town of Portoferraio, a vital trade center for Greeks and Romans in ancient times. Discover storied Medici fortresses; the Church of Misericordia; Forte Stella and Napoleon’s former home of Villa dei Mulini. See the majestic Napoleonic Theatre of Vigilanti and the Porta di Mare, a stone gate with a magnificent sea view. Finish up with a walk along the town’s splendid promenade with its exclusive shops and boutiques.

Bonifacio, Corsica
Bonifacio, on the French island of Corsica, has a truly dramatic natural setting, perched on high limestone cliffs. Begin your excursion with a tram ride from the harbor to haute ville (upper town) and around the plateau to enjoy the panoramic views. A walking tour will take you to the Citadel and Old Town to see St. Dominique church; Place Bir Hakeim, St. Jean Baptiste church and Le Grain de Sable—a limestone rock formation. Explore the Jardin des Vestiges and see where Napoleon stayed.
