-Cancellation received 90-61 days prior to departure will result in forfeiture of 50% of the entire cost of the trip per person.
-Cancellation received 60-31 days prior to departure will result in forfeiture of 75% of the entire cost of the trip per person.
-Cancellation received 30 days prior to departure to the time of departure (or no show) will result in 100% forfeiture of the entire cost of the trip.

    In transit | Barcelona, Spain

    Depart your gateway city for Barcelona, Spain.

  • day 2

    Madrid, Spain

    Upon arrival, transfer to the Hotel Wellington & Spa Madrid. Enjoy a discussion about contemporary Spain. This evening, meet your fellow travelers during a Welcome Reception at the hotel followed by dinner at a local restaurant.

  • day 3

    Madrid

    This morning, set out to explore the acclaimed Prado Museum. During your visit, relish a private, guided visit to the holding pieces Spanish artists, including Velázquez, El Greco and Francisco de Goya. Continue on a panoramic tour of Madrid with stops at the Plaza Mayor and Palacio Real, followed by a group lunch at a local restaurant. This afternoon, visit the grand Royal Palace, the official residence of the Spanish royal family in Madrid and the location for state ceremonies and important events. Completed in 1764, the Baroque-style palace is one of the largest in Europe, with more than 3,400 rooms.

    Toledo | Madrid

    Tour this beautiful UNESCO World Heritage city to see notable sites, such as the magnificent Puerta de la Bisagra and the Santa Maria La Blanca Synagogue. Then, explore the vast interior of the Gothic Cathedral of Toledo followed by a visit to the Church of Santo Tome to view El Greco’s enormous masterpiece, “The Burial of the Count of Orgaz,” painted around 1586. Talk about your experiences during a group lunch at the Parador de Toledo.

    Madrid | Barcelona

    Make the most of a full day at leisure to explore Madrid on your own. Visit some of the other renowned art museums of Madrid, such as Museo Reina Sofía, to see Pablo Picasso’s large, 1937 “Guernica;” take a leisurely stroll alongside the local Madridleños in Retiro Park; or consider day trips to nearby towns, such as Segovia or Ávila.     Engage in a discussion on Modernism and the architecture of Antoni Gaudí before seeing the Art Nouveau architect’s major works today. On a guided tour, visit Gaudí’s playful Parc Güell, an enchanting green space featuring architectural elements of colorful mosaics, organic shapes and imaginative structures. Savor lunch at an atmospheric Catalan farmhouse restaurant. Continue to visit the extraordinary Art Nouveau campus of the former hospital, Sant Pau Recinte Modernista. Then, see Gaudí’s most famous work, La Sagrada Familía basilica.

Continue to join a unique hands-on cooking class, including lunch, and discover the secrets of traditional Catalan cuisine.

    Learn about the history of Catalonia and Barcelona this morning. Then, enjoy a full day at leisure today to explore Barcelona in more depth. Or, choose to embark on the Elective Activity to Montserrat and the Penedès Wine Region (available at an additional cost).
