ITINERARY

  • day 1 & 2

    In Transit - Zurich/Colmar, France

    Touch down in Zürich, where an AHI Travel representative will greet you. Together, transfer to the Grand Hôtel Bristol in Colmar, France, your home for the week. After unpacking, meet up with your fellow travelers at a Welcome Reception and Dinner.

  • day 3

    Colmar

    Your first day begins with an insightful discussion of the Alsace region. Then, armed with this new knowledge, strike off to explore Colmar, the Alsatian wine capital. See sights that add to Colmar’s appeal, from its weaving waterways and decorative shopfronts to the eye-catching Fisherman’s Quay, Pfister House and remarkable Maison des Têtes with 111 head sculptures. After a hearty lunch, enjoy a  canal cruise through “Little Venice,” passing traditional winstubs and houses adorned with germaniums.

  • day 4

    Kaysersberg | Riquewihr | Eguisheim

    Today’s adventure introduces you to the picturesque, sun-soaked vineyards of the Route des Vin. Enjoy visits to fairy-tale Kaysersberg and two of “The Most Beautiful Villages of France:” Riquewihr and Eguisheim. Stop at a winery to sip fine vintages, and engage with a local wine producer, followed by a delectable lunch. Later tonight, learn more about Alsace’s unique culture.

    Basel, Switzerland

    Multicultural Basel spreads along the banks of the Rhine River and is host to over 40 museums, Switzerland’s oldest university, a thriving arts scene and attractions such as the Tinguely Fountain. During a walking tour, see some of the city’s landmarks and gain insight into how the city’s unique history and heritage have shaped the Basel of today.

  • day 6

    Freiburg, Germany | Neuf-Brisach, France

    Linger in Freiburg, the jewel of Germany’s Black Forest. Explore the lively Münsterplatz city square, the heart of the city.  During your guided walk, note the iconic Bächle, tiny waterways that wend throughout the city that were once used to provide water and fight fires. You may see children pulling brightly painted boats along the streams. On your return to Colmar, pass by the fortified village of Neuf-Brisach.

  • day 7

    Strasbourg

    Few cities can match Strasbourg for its rich architectural heritage and quintessential old quarter. Meander through the city, passing half-timbered houses, pedestrian bridges and the awe-inspiring Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg. Your guide shares details about Strasbourg’s history and “La Petite France,” one of Strasbourg’s prettiest neighborhoods. Then experience Strasbourg from a different vantage point during a panoramic canal cruise by the Neustadt Imperial Quarter, the tanners’ quarter, the European Quarter and more.

  • day 8

    Colmar

    Start the day with a discussion on Alsace’s modern society. Then experience the area more intimately on an excursion that explores Colmar’s History, Culture and Cuisine. Along your walk, gain insight into Colmar’s Jewish community and seek out some of the city’s outstanding photography spots. Cap off the excursion with a special wine and cheese tasting! Tonight, raise a toast to your getaway during a Farewell Reception and Dinner.

  • day 9

    Depart for home

    Bid farewell to beautiful Colmar today and depart for the airport for your flights home.
