Depart your home city for an overnight flight to Casablanca, Morocco/Embark World Voyage

Arrive at the Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport. Proceed through the immigration checkpoint to the baggage claim area and retrieve your luggage. After completing a customs screening, meet a  representative and transfer to the ship.

This afternoon, embark on the deluxe World Voyager and settle into your suite or stateroom. There will be a  Welcome Briefing and safety drill.

Casablanca/Rabat

Breakfast will be served aboard the ship every morning during your cruise.

Enroute to Rabat, visit Casablanca’s Hassan II Mosque, dramatically situated on a promontory overlooking the ocean. Admire its intricate marble flooring and Moroccan details, including gilded cedar ceilings. One of the largest mosques in Africa, it is one of only two that is open to non-Muslim visitors. Conservative attire will be required, and you will be asked to remove your shoes upon entrance. (Moderate)

Continue driving to Rabat, where you’ll enjoy lunch at an authentic local restaurant upon arrival.

More reserved than bustling Marrakech and Casablanca, the ancient city of Rabat has been the capital since 1956 and is the official royal residence of King Mohammed VI. UNESCO inscribed “Rabat, Modern Capital and Historic City: a Shared Heritage,” a World Heritage site in 2012. You’ll begin your Rabat tour with a panoramic drive past King Mohamed VI’s Royal Palace Grounds, the Parliament building in the heart of Rabat, the towering, Moorish-style Hechella ancient fortress and the contemporary architectural marvel that is the New Opera House. Then, begin a walking tour to see the outside of the Hassan Tower, an iconic, unfinished minaret standing tall at 44 meters, originally part of a grand mosque built in the 12th century by Sultan Yacoub al-Mansour. Its red sandstone structure is an architectural marvel, with intricate carvings and a commanding view over the surrounding area. Next, enjoy an inside visit to the Mohamed V Mausoleum, a beautifully ornate site dedicated to Morocco’s revered King Mohammed V and his two sons. Tangier

Enjoy breakfast on board this morning as the ship arrives in the ancient port city of Tangier, where you will disembark the ship for a day of discovery. After its origins as a Phoenician trading post and five centuries under Roman rule, Tangier fell to the Vandals and ultimately became part of the Byzantine empire — origins that created a vibrant ancient metropolis at the crossroads of the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. The North African city was then conquered and claimed multiple times in the centuries that followed, by Spain, Portugal and Morocco. By the early 20th century, Tangier caught the attention of renowned artists like Matisse and Eugène Delacroix, establishing a new age of cosmopolitan creativity.

Tangier’s Walking Tour. Today, a national guide will lead you on a discovery of Tangier’s labyrinthine old medina, its legendary souks and the fascinating history of this ancient walled city. Enjoy interacting with vendors and hear captivating stories as you marvel at a variety  of local wares. See weavers and artisans creating their crafts by hand in the souks and learn more about the flavors of Moroccan cuisine. Walk through the narrow alleys of Petit Socco, where produce vendors, butchers and flower sellers set up stalls and pass by the historic American Legation, the official diplomatic mission of the United States in Morocco from 1821 to 1961. Continue to the hidden gem, Niaba Gardens, a lush green space nestled within the vibrant bustling city. We will arrive in Gibraltar this morning. Enjoy breakfast on board and disembark the ship for your excursion to visit the legendary Rock of Gibraltar.

ake a scenic drive along the picturesque coast, admiring the panoramic views of the shimmering waters with glimpses of sandy beaches and rugged cliffs, as you head toward Gibraltar’s southernmost point. You’ll arrive at the Trinity Run Lighthouse, located near the Gulf of Cadiz, and walk up a short, steep section of road to reach the summit of the Rock of Gibraltar, known as the “Top of the Rock.” From atop the towering limestone formation, you’ll witness stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area and also see the two Pillars of Hercules, two ancient landmarks that were once believed to mark the edge of the known world in classical antiquity. Together, these two pillars stood at the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean.

Continue your drive, entering the upper rock nature reserve and passing the Queen’s Balcony viewpoint to arrive at the nearby St. Michael’s Cave. After walking about 100 yards up the road, you’ll enter this fascinating natural limestone cave to marvel at the dramatic display of stalactites and stalagmites. Next, as you head further along the upper rock, you will be delighted by the world-famous Barbary Apes, a species of Barbary macaques. Observe the playful, curious creatures who roam freely around the Rock of Gibraltar and are Europe’s only wild monkeys.

Conclude your enriching day with a visit to the Siege Tunnels, which were carved into the Rock during the Great Siege of Gibraltar (1779-1783) to house artillery and protect the garrison from attacks. Andalusia is the birthplace of flamenco, and Seville’s atmospheric neighborhoods, like Triana and Santa Cruz, echo with the passionate rhythms of guitar and dance. Disembark to begin discovering Seville at your own pace. You will have the option of returning to the ship for dinner or remaining in town for dinner on your own, giving you more time to explore Seville. Perhaps you wish to stroll through the iconic Plaza de España, with its grand semi-circular design and colorful ceramic tiles that capture the essence of Spanish artistry.

During your guided walk, you’ll see Seville’s top highlights, including the magnificent UNESCO World Heritage-listed Catedral de Sevilla, better known as the Seville Cathedral. The enormous Gothic cathedral was built on the site of a former Moorish mosque; its construction began in 1401 and took over a century to complete. It is home to Christopher Columbus’ tomb and famous for the Giralda, a former minaret converted into the cathedral’s bell tower. Portimão, Portugal | Lagos

Enjoy a morning of cruising before arriving in Portimão. Once a significant ancient maritime port and the capital of Algarve from 1577 to 1756, Logos’ origins date back to at least 2000 B.C., with early settlements by the Phoenicians, Carthaginians and Romans before it became an important Moorish town in the 8th century and was later reconquered by the Portuguese in 1249. During the Age of Discovery in the 15th and 16th centuries, Logos served as a key departure point for explorers, including Prince Henry the Navigator’s expeditions along the West African coast. The town thrived on maritime trade and shipbuilding and, later, the transatlantic slave trade, as Lagos housed Europe’s first slave market in 1444.

Lagos City Tour. Take a guided tour of this historical coastal town known for its dramatic cliffs, stunning beaches and rich maritime heritage.
