ITINERARY
-
day 1 & 2
Depart your home city for Paris, France
Arrive in Paris and travel with the group to embark Viva Beyond. Settle in your cabin, relax and unpack. Later, join your fellow travelers for a Welcome Reception and Dinner on board the ship.
-
day 3
Vernon for Giverny
Begin your first morning with a satisfying breakfast. Watch for stunning views along the river as we cruise toward Vernon. Then, delve into the life and work of impressionist painter Claude Monet at his colorful Giverny home, where he lived from 1883 to 1926. Wander through the lush gardens that inspired many of his paintings, and visit the studio where he painted his “Water Lilies” series. His home — the kitchen decorated in brilliant blues, the cheerful yellow dining room, the green shutters and more — are as vibrant as his garden. Return to the ship for lunch before enjoying your chosen excursion. The ship departs Vernon later today.
-
day 4
Duclair | Rouen | Jumièges
Arrive at Duclair and enjoy an excursion to Jumièges Abbey, one of the most powerful abbeys in medieval France. Known for its charity toward the poor, it was one of several monasteries built along the Seine River. Settle back on board for lunch as we sail to Rouen. Here, embark on a walking tour of the city’s historic center, filled with ornate Gothic churches and half-timbered houses. Visit the impressive Notre Dame Cathedral and witness the Church of Saint‑Maclou. See the square where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431, followed by an enriching visit to the Saint Joan of Arc Church. Return to the ship for dinner on board or stay in town for
dinner if you wish. -
day 5
Caudebec for Honfleur
Disembark after breakfast for an excursion to Honfleur, a charming port town that has long captivated artists. Claude Monet, Gustave Courbet and native son Eugène Boudin all drew inspiration from Honfleur and its environs. Honfleur also was ideally located for trade, and many seafaring merchants and explorers launched their journeys from here. Soak up the maritime ambience of the 17th-century old harbor and stroll along side streets to see landmarks like the wooden Church of Sainte-Cathérine, crafted by 15th-century shipbuilders. Return to the ship for lunch or choose to stay in town for local cuisine. Attend a lecture by special guest speaker Dwight David Eisenhower II, who will guide us on our excursions to these hallowed sites tomorrow.
-
day 6
Caudebec/ Normandy/Rouen
After breakfast, set off for a powerful, full-day tour of Normandy’s historic D-Day beaches. Led by expert guides, explore poignant landmarks including the American Military Cemetery, Pointe du Hoc and Omaha Beach, where approximately 2,400 Allied troops gave their lives on June 6, 1944. A highlight of the day is a moving wreath-laying ceremony at the cemetery, where you’ll join Professor Dwight David Eisenhower II in honoring the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. After lunch at a restaurant, spend the afternoon browsing exhibits at the D-Day Museum in Arromanches. Return to the ship for dinner on board.
-
day 7
Mantes La Jolie for Versailles
Arrive at Mantes La Jolie this morning and spend time at leisure; then join a lecture by Professor Eisenhower. After lunch, board a coach for a journey to Versailles, the legendary palace and UNESCO World Heritage Site that served as France’s political center and royal residence from 1682 to 1789. Explore the palace’s lavish interiors, stroll through its magnificent gardens and marvel at the iconic Hall of Mirrors, where French grandeur is on full display. Return to the ship for dinner.
-
day 8
Paris
Enjoy breakfast on board as the ship arrives in Paris. Depart for your selected excursion — either a guided walking tour of the historic Le Marais district or a visit to the elegant Musée Jacquemart-André. On the Le Marais tour, stroll through one of Paris’s oldest and most atmospheric neighborhoods, known for its cobblestones, aristocratic mansions, Jewish quarter and fashionable boutiques. Alternatively, step into the refined world of 19th-century architecture at the Musée Jacquemart‑André, a former private mansion with a collection of European masterpieces, period furnishings and decorative arts. The afternoon is free to craft your own path in Paris.
Browse world-class art at the Louvre, stroll through the elegant Tuileries Garden, explore the Latin Quarter or savor pastries at a café. Later, raise a toast to your adventure at a Farewell Reception and Dinner. -
