Alliance invite you to go behind the curtain for an insider’s introduction to New York’s theater world. During this program, you’ll attend at least five carefully chosen performances, ranging from Broadway premieres to Off-Broadway revivals. Director, instructor, and lecturer Sarah Ream will guide this program, drawing on decades of experience in New York and London.

THE FIFTH AVENUE HOTEL (or similar)
A rare blend of history and imagination, this hotel occupies a restored 19th-century mansion and a sleek modern tower in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood. Enjoy cocktails in The Portrait Bar, explore nearby Madison Square Park, or unwind at Café Carmellini, the acclaimed restaurant from chef Andrew Carmellini, all within walking distance of Broadway and some of the city’s finest museums and shops.

ITINERARY

  • day 1

    ARRIVAL IN NEW YORK CITY

    Arrive independently into New York’s LaGuardia or JFK airports. Transfer on your own to The Fifth Avenue Hotel (or similar), a meticulously restored 19th-century mansion in Manhattan’s NoMad district. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. This evening, gather for a welcome dinner.

  • day 2

    NEW YORK CITY

    Enjoy the morning at leisure or explore the city’s cultural offerings independently. You may wish to visit a gallery, stroll through Madison Square Park, or shop along Fifth Avenue. After lunch at leisure, gather for our first afternoon activity. This evening, attend the first theater performance, the opening to a week of world-class productions selected to reflect the most exciting work on New York stages today.

  • day 3 & 4

    NEW YORK CITY

    Begin each day with a morning discussion led by Sarah Ream, analyzing the previous evening’s production. These sessions invite lively conversation and provide tools for a deeper appreciation of theatrical craft. With lunch at leisure, enjoy free time in the afternoon or optional group activities, such as guest talks or behind the-scenes visits. Each evening, reconvene for a new performance drawn from the best of Broadway and Off-Broadway. Dinner is at leisure.

  • day 5

    NEW YORK CITY

    After breakfast and a discussion of last night’s performance, enjoy the late morning and early afternoon at leisure. Attend a matinee performance before gathering in the evening for a farewell dinner and a final theatrical production.

  • day 6

    NEW YORK CITY

    Enjoy a final group discussion before checking out and transferring independently to the airport for your flight home.
