Sorrento
Enjoy breakfast with views of Sorrento, the scenic gateway to Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii. Set off on an enriching excursion to explore the town that was destroyed and covered in ash in A.D. 79. The excavation site and outdoor museum reveal how people of this ancient Roman settlement lived 2,000 years ago. Witness the wealthy Vetti family estate, the impressive amphitheater and the incredible Temple of Jupiter. Later this afternoon, take advantage of leisure time to immerse yourself in Sorrento’s local traditions. Perhaps walk through the historical city center or taste limoncello, the popular Italian liqueur. Tonight, join a Captain’s Welcome Reception. After dinner, enjoy a tarantella performance featuring traditional Neapolitan songs and dance.

Amalfi Coast | Positano | Isle Of Capri
Admire the natural splendor of the UNESCO World Heritage‑designated Amalfi Coast on a scenic drive to the medieval village of Positano. Craft your own path with free time to browse the charming boutiques and cafes of this eye-catching village. Return to the ship for lunch as we sail to Capri. Legends claim that Homer’s Odysseus resisted the alluring call of the sirens here. Visit the Augustus Gardens, a series of serene, flower-filled terraces that afford panoramas of the Faraglioni rock formations rising from the waters and the craggy peak of Mount Solaro.

Palermo, Sicily
Arrive in the Sicilian capital of Palermo, founded by Phoenician traders in the eighth century B.C. Visit Palermo’s baroque square and the 12th-century Palermo Cathedral. Explore the sights and smells of revered Palermo street food at the Capo market and browse buzzing food stalls. After a lunch of popular local foods, enjoy your Traveler’s Choice excursion. Select to visit the lauded Cathedral of Monreale, known for its Byzantine mosaics, or encounter the infinite beauty inside the historic Royal Palace and step inside the Palatine Chapel, a 12th‑century masterpiece that reflects Sicily’s diverse origins with European, Sicilian, Byzantine and Arab influences.

Giardini Naxos |Taormina
From the port of Giardini Naxos, travel to Taormina, an ancient village on the top of a cliff above the Ionian Sea and near Mount Etna. Visit the remarkably preserved Greco-Roman Theatre, the world’s most dramatically sited Greek theater that is still in use today, and explore the striking Corvaja Palace. You have the option to return to the ship for lunch or stay in Taormina for lunch and time to explore on your own.

Syracuse, Italy
Travel to the small island of Ortigia, Syracuse’s maritime heart. On a walking tour, behold the most ancient Doric temple in Sicily, the sixth-century B.C. Temple of Apollo, and visit the city’s baroque cathedral that contains the ruins of a fifth-century B.C. temple dedicated to the goddess Athena. Later today, enjoy a Traveler’s Choice excursion. You can visit the Neapolis Archaeological Park, which contains some of Syracuse’s most important ruins and the Teatro Greco or enjoy a slower pace by savoring wine tastings at a country winery in the rolling hills of the Val di Noto. Rejoin your group for an exclusive visit to a noble Sicilian palace. Here, join local winemaker Baron Benevento for a refreshment and a glass of his tasty wine. Sail to Malta tonight.

Valletta. Malta
The ship arrives in Valletta for a morning of discovery. Founded in 1566 by the Knights of St. John, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the world’s earliest planned cities. Our excursion includes a stroll through the 16th‑century Barrakka Gardens. Also, visit the Grandmaster’s Palace, the former residence of the Order of the Knights of St. John, and the St. John’s Co‑Cathedral with its two large bell towers. Admire the lavishly ornamented interior and see Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio’s only signed work, the dramatic “Beheading of John the Baptist.” Attend tonight’s Captain’s Farewell Reception and raise a toast to your fellow travelers to celebrate your adventure.
