    Claire Lesourd

    Claire Lesourd is a certified national guide and lecturer, with more than 30 years of experience in the Normandy tourism industry. She worked for the Caen Memorial Museum and was a  founder of the museum’s excursions on the D-Day Beaches. She also was in charge of the guided tours department of the Bayeux Tourism Office. She looks forward to sharing her personal knowledge of WWII history with you. Her mother’s family was living in Caen on D-Day and her paternal grandfather was part of the French Resistance. She is also passionate about historic heritage and art, particularly Impressionism.

CANCELLATION–All cancellations must be submitted in writing to AHI Travel.
-Cancellation received up to 121 days prior to trip departure will incur a $300 per person administrative fee.
-Cancellation received 120 to 91 days prior to departure will result in forfeiture of 25% of the entire cost of the trip per person.
-Cancellation received 90-61 days prior to departure will result in forfeiture of 50% of the entire cost of the trip per person.
-Cancellation received 60-31 days prior to departure will result in forfeiture of 75% of the entire cost of the trip per person.
-Cancellation received 30 days prior to departure to the time of departure (or no show) will result in 100% forfeiture of the entire cost of the trip.

ITINERARY

  • day 1 & 2

    In transit - Depart your gateway city for Paris, France

    Touch down in Paris and meet up with your Travel representative. Transfer to the pier and embark the MS Renoir, your home for the next several days. Spend the afternoon settling in your cabin or head off to begin discovering Paris at your leisure. Tonight, you’re invited to meet your fellow travelers at a Welcome Reception and Dinner as your ship departs Paris.

  • day 3

    Versailles

    Begin your day with an enriching journey to the splendid Palace of Versailles, France’s political capital and the seat of the royal court from 1682 to 1789. Tour the opulent rooms, the Queen’s Apartments and the Hall of Mirrors, adorned with glass chandeliers. After, explore the magnificent gardens at your own pace.

  • day 4

    Jumièges | Rouen

    Delight in two ancient abbeys: the Benedictine Abbey of Jumièges, one of the most powerful abbeys in medieval France, and Abbey Saint-Wandrille with its incredible rococo-style decorations. Continue to roam the historic streets of Rouen, beloved by Joan of Arc, Richard the Lionheart and Claude Monet, among others. Take in the half-timbered houses, charming harbor area, beautiful astronomical clock and grand Notre-Dame de Rouen.

  • day 5

    Le Havre | Étretat | Honfleur

    Thrill to outstanding views and unique spectacles during a gentle walk along a cliff-top path in Étretat. Travel on to the Château du Bec, a stunning, privately owned, 10th-century castle. Meet one of the owners as you walk through the serene grounds, then learn about regional cooking traditions from the chef, who will prepare a special lunch for you. Continue to Honfleur for a stroll through its Le Vieux Bassin before capping off the evening with a lively singing performance.

    Caen | Arromanches | D-Day Beaches | Caudebec-en-Caux

    Embark on a poignant journey through sites steeped in World War II history, pausing to commemorate those who fought on this battle-scared landscape. From Pointe du Hoc to the premier Caen Memorial Museum and the humbling Normandy American Cemetery, your visit will be thought-provoking and informative. Plus, visit Omaha Beach, where Allied forces landed during the D-Day invasions. Along the way, your expert guide provides accounts of the haunting events that occurred.

    Les Andelys | Giverny | Vernon

    Enjoy a morning of scenic sailing. Then step into the life of painter Claude Monet at his Giverny home. See the gardens of weeping willows, water lilies and arched bridges that inspired his paintings. His colorful home — the kitchen decorated in brilliant blues, the cheerful yellow dining room, the green shutters and more  —  are just as vibrant as his garden.

    Paris

    A delightful cruise along the Seine River begins the day. Then join a walking tour to see the restoration process of Notre-Dame, the city’s most famous cathedral, and cross the Pont de l’Achevêché, the Archbishop’s Bridge to explore some of Paris’ neighborhoods. Tonight, enjoy regaling each other with tales of your epic Seine journey during a festive Farewell Reception and Dinner.

    Depart for your home city

    Following breakfast, say farewell your fellow travelers and head home.
